Event Details
The Drivers Edge Instructor Clinic / Motorsport Safety Foundation Level II Certification. Held over Two Days of indepth classroom sessions lead by certified advanced instructors with on track role playing in an event environment. The CERTIFIED program is a nationally recognized, independent certification program. It establishes a path of continuing education and provides a formal record of achievement for your efforts as an HPDE Instructor. The program is defined by each level building upon the next level to allow progression through the ranks of the HPDE instructor community.
What is the Instructor Training School (ITS)
- School designed to give you some tools needed to become an HPDE instructor
- Combination of class room and on-track role play exercises
- Successful completion results in candidates getting their MSF Level II certification.
What is MSF Level II
- Nationally recognized certification
- Designed to be minimum requirements for in-car instructors
- Some HPDE organizations will accept certification as qualification for instructions.
- Many HPDE organizations will require some 1st hand verification of skills as an instructor.
How it works
- Candidates screened to verify they meet the requirements
- Candidates meeting all requirements will be invited to register for ITS/MSF II as openings exist
- ITS consisting of Classroom sessions to cover skills that will be useful (some online and in person)
- Several On-track role play sessions to experience actual scenarios
- Opportunity to practice skills covered in class
- Evaluated by senior instructors TDE/ITS Mentors
- Some candidates will be certified and assigned to instruct beginner students
- Some candidates will be assigned a senior instructor as a mentor to assist with building experience
- Some candidates will be referred for more practice before they are certified
- Unfortunately, some candidates will demonstrate that they may not have the required skills and aptitude.
- *Completion of ITS/MSF II does not guarantee certification
- Candidates successfully completing course are eligible to apply for MSF Level II certification
- MSF charges $35 for 3 years certification
- Continued instructor experience level required for recertification at 3 years intervals
Prerequisites
- Extensive high level HPDE experience (this will be assessed on individual basis) with a minimum of >40 track days (>15 track days at advanced highest level)
- Advanced knowledge of driving skills and demonstration of skills
- Good communication skills
- Proper attitude and understanding of instructing objectives.
- MSF Level I certification
- *If experience is not with TDE, then a letter of recommendation from a credible source covering the above items will be considered.
Notes:
- You must be TDE Red Group Solo qualified or equivalent or approved by pre-event evaluation or letter of recommendation by CDI of approved organization or credible source to register for this Instructor Clinic.
